Artist: Sanjay Parhad
Sanjay Parhad is a highly regarded Warli painting artist known for his dedication to preserving and promoting the traditional art form of the Warli tribe, indigenous to Maharashtra, India. Born and raised in a Warli community, Sanjay has embraced the cultural heritage of his ancestors and reflects it through his detailed artwork. Warli painting is a style that uses simple geometric shapes like circles, triangles, and squares to depict scenes of daily life, nature, and rituals.
Sanjay work captures the essence of Warli traditions while also adding a modern twist by experimenting with colour and composition, moving slightly beyond the traditionally monochrome style. His artwork has been exhibited in several national and international art exhibitions in Kaula Lumpur and Paris, gaining appreciation for both the aesthetic beauty and the cultural significance of his pieces.
